Word Review with Ian

Alright, so, this is really the second of two videos I had taken of Ian reviewing all the words he knows. Well, most of them, I'm pretty sure I still missed a few even after two videos! The first one is currently stuck on my phone until I figure out how to get it off... it was apparently too long to either email or upload to Facebook. :(

Here's the video. :)

Ian's Words

Recently, Ian has been getting better and better with his words. Learning new ones, saying known ones better, associating certain words with certain objects, etc. For instance, he says 'please' and 'thank you' so much now that he rarely needs to get reminded / asked to say those words. He knows his manners. :) (mostly haha). He doesn't say sentences very often, but he has said one or two. His first one was the weekend before his 2nd birthday, telling the dogs to leave him alone while he was eating... saying 'dog dog bye.' He has also learned how to say 'I see you.' Don't ask me how he learned that, I didn't teach him the phrase! :P
I can't remember when, but he learned how to say 'bless you' just by hearing it and repeating it. But, when he did learn that word, it's like the phrase 'excuse you' became obsolete. He says 'bless you' for every noise now, whether it is a burp, toot, sneeze, cough, grunt, you name it, lol. It is so cute when he says it, though. :)
Some words, he skips the middle letters entirely. 'Doggy' is 'do--y,' 'kitty' is 'ki--y' and so on... 'da--y,' 'mo--y,' and 'char-ie.' You can hear the 'R' in 'Charlie,' but the way he says it is kinda like the British way to say the name... not as much emphasis on the 'R.' When he says 'kitty,' for some reason he starts off with a German gutteral sound. I don't know why, and he won't stop, that's just his way of saying the word!
He also has the occasional replacement word for something. 'Juice' has been his long-time word for anything drink-related... Water, juice, milk, and for his sippy cup as well. Yesterday, he decided to revert back to the learning-to-speak two syllable words (FOR EXAMPLE- ba-ba, da-da, etc...) when he said water.... 'wa-wa.' Now, I am not saying at all that he has gone backwards or regressed. I found it odd that he would call water 'wa-was' when he has been so good at calling things by their proper name. Even though a couple words are missing the middle letters, such as 'doggy' and 'kitty' as mentioned above, he still calls them by their proper name. So, hearing him say 'wa-wa' came as a surprise to me. I was like 'You can't just say 'water?'' Lol. Another replacement word he has started saying is pretty funny. He calls his pants 'butts.' If he wants them on or off, he'll say 'butts.' Pretty cute. :)
Other words he learned on his own. Not to long ago, he's said 'arm,' 'toes,' and 'belly.' He points to each one correctly, about 90% of the time. 'On' and 'off' are also new ones. 'Light' is more recent, pointing at lights, the switched, and even the smoke detector and saying that word. He did point to the bathroom light switch this morning saying 'on' when I didn't turn it on. :P He says 'pee' and 'poo' and sits on his potty chair, but then doesn't actually do anything... hmmm. Lol.
Two new words that he just said today, again with no teaching, just repeating, are 'seat' and 'house.' He had gone to his high chair this morning as I was getting breakfast ready saying 'seat,' and again when pointing at the couch. He says 'house' so cutely, I have to video tape it. :)
He says 'bye' every night when he goes of to bed. :)
Percy is his favorite train from Thomas & Friends. Every train is Percy. He asks for Percy in the morning, or whenever, and if I don't feel like putting Thomas on, I'll say 'no Percy.' He'll repeat it, arms upon the air and shaking back and forth, in an asking / demanding tone of voice.... 'no Percy?!' haha. That can escalade into a screaming fit if I continue saying 'no Percy' after him, though.
He does like to say 'no...' and then something. Like 'no food' when he's not hungry, 'no bye' when he doesn't want to go to bed, 'no up' when he doesn't want a hug, 'no kiss' when he doesn't want to give you a kiss, and more.
Like I said, he's getting much better at his words. :)
Hope you enjoyed reading about his progress! I'm sure that there are more words that he's learned and I'm missing on here, but oh well! Until next time!

Kids can take things so literally....

For example... Just 20 minutes ago during dinner, my son spat the food out of his mouth and said please when I told him he could have his juice if he said please and when his mouth was emptied. Haha, very funny, but NOT what momma meant at all! William and I couldn't help but burst out laughing when he did it, though, because of his promptness, and taking what I said very literally! Kids will always hold surprises... :P hey, at least he said please, LOL! Honestly sometimes I wonder how I could be mad at him when he's naughty because he can be so comical at times!
Hope you had a good laugh over that. :) until next time!

So...

It is just a couple minutes past 8am... and Ian is still sleeping. Which is rare. So what do I do? NOT sleep in. I should be taking advantage of the fact that I can sleep longer, yet I can't. My body is too used to be woken up between 7:30 and 8. So I'm writing a blog entry, via my phone no less! I found out a couple days ago that Blogger has an iPhone app. They should make one for the iPad so I don't have to hit the 2x button in the corner to see everything. :P oh and if you see any odd words that would be the auto correct, I usually catch them all but sometimes I miss one! It can think you meant to say a completely different word than the one you were typing.
So anyways, enough babbling, I might as well give an update while I'm writing this. Ian's birthday is in 2 weeks, I can hardly believe it! We're going up to my in-laws the weekend before his birthday, which also happens to be Memorial Day weekend. I want to take him to the zoo on his birthday is hoping that the weather will be nice! The weekend after his birthday, a good friend of mine is coming down to Portland for a work conference. She also happens to be our photographer - she is our pre-wedding and wedding photos. We asked her to do my maternity photos and some 2-year shot of Ian. I'm excited! I will be at 35 weeks when the photos are done. Almost to the end and I am ready for Charlie to be born! I just started a new class this week, and it will be over just days before my due date. I have already arranged with my counselors to be taking the month of July off for maternity leave, so I will have time to get back on a schedule with 2 little ones when I add school back into the mix. That way I will know when the god times to do homework are! I will still have to fill out a leave of absence form, but my counselor should have that all ready for me by the end of this class.
My goodness, almost half an hour later and still Ian sleeps. And right as I'm typing that sentence I hear a noise. He may be starting to wake up now. Well, I will be finishing this post now just in case! Until next time!

Haven't posted in a bit...

I have been terribly busy lately. School is keeping my attention a lot these past few weeks. There's so much to do each week! I'm halfway through these two classes, and I've learned a lot, so I'm getting excited to move onto new classes soon. :)

Ian is starting to get more talkative... he's added 'bye-bye' to his list of words, and can almost say his own name! :) He also loves touching and rubbing my belly. I'm not sure if he really knows what's going on, but I think he knows something! I can't wait until he will be able to feel his baby brother kick him through mommy's belly. :) Oh, I can imagine the startled look on his face once he feels a kick!

Baby boy likes to move subtly a lot. He's getting to the strength where his kicks can be felt on the outside. I could kind of see my belly move a little bit when he was kicking around yesterday. :) He just hasn't been kicking around whenever I've been cuddling with Ian, so he could startle his brother! Hehe. :P We haven't decided on a name for this one yet... but I'm hoping we do soon so I can start calling him by his name instead of referring to him as 'baby' 'baby boy' or 'him.' Lol. :P He's moving around SO much now. Instead of feeling movements just a couple times a day, he's getting stronger (and bigger) so I'm feeling him move around a minimum of 5-6 times a day. It's not so enjoyable when he uses my bladder for a trampoline though, haha. I know one thing... he doesn't like it when Ian is laying on my belly... I guess he feels a little squished! :P

Here's a picture from my ultrasound last week...
I get another ultrasound on my next appointment (March 15), as the ultrasound tech could not find the outflow of blood from the heart last week. We watched the heart beat for 15 minutes until she moved on! I'm sure everything is fine. :)

Until next time!

Videos of Ian

These two videos were taken a day apart (first on on 2/7/12, second on 2/8/12). It shows how much his learning has advanced in a matter of days!

He started to say 'two' but ended up saying 'juice,' which he started saying about a week ago.

Now listen how says 'two' and even points it out. :)

New blog + Update

Hey, all! I've created another blog for my photography. Please head on over to Heart of Grace Photography and check out what I've added so far. Please become followers and spread the word! :)

Update time. Next week we find out if our second is a boy or girl (EEE SO EXCITED!!) :D. I can feel the baby move around all the time now so we'll see how the ultrasound will work out. :P

Ian can say 'food' and 'juice' now, we're hoping that his vocabulary will expand to include 'baby' for his baby sibling by the time July rolls around. :)

Can't really write much right now (sorry), I have to get back to school work! I've got a couple questions due tomorrow that I want to try and get done today.

Toodles! Don't forget to check out Heart of Grace Photography! :)
